TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT RISK ASSESSMENT THROUGH THE DIFFERENT LAYERS OT TECHNOLOGY ROADMAP (CASE: DRILL BITS)

Abstract

During recent decade, one of the most important priorities of Iran technology plans has been Localization of advanced petroleum industry technologies .Identification and assessment of technology development risks is crucial because of the high cost of technology development in this field. Nevertheless, there is not adequate attention to the issues of uncertainty and risk assessment through roadmap formulating. Accordingly, , after literature review and exploratory interviews with experts, 29 risks were identified and classified into four layers of roadmap including why, what, how and enabler layers. FMEA method was used to assess these risks. Accordingly, their severity, likelihood of occurrence and detection were assessed. The findings imply that the most important risk related to enabler and why layers respectively. As well, the most important risks are Providing expensive bank guarantees and testing the products in the real fields.
