Selecting the appropriate technology transfer method by using of DEMATEL and ANP (Case study: Two companies porcelain Khorasan)

Abstract

Successful technology transfer in developing countries is one of the most important activities that requires accurate planning and selection to succeed in it; and in developing countries because of a passion for new technology acquisition, must be have accurate evaluation on technology transfer method to not facing failure. The aim of this study is to evaluating and selecting an appropriate technology transfer method in porcelain manufacturing industry. For this purpose, the DEMATEL and ANP methods are used to selecting appropriate method for technology transfer between foreign direct investment, joint venture, license and reverse engineering methods that used in those companies and In order to have sufficient knowledge of the technology transfer system. The required data are collected using an interview process from industry experts. The findings indicate that economic security and government regulations have greatest impact on the selection of technology transfer method these two measures have led to the selection of joint venture method among other methods. This method helps to have more control for the technology receiver and because of it, have more buyers’ attention. Also, findings indicate the weighted analysis of criteria for options facing managers that helps managers to better selecting the technology transfer method.
